The Var is the heart of the Provence wine region. It is home to most of the Côtes de Provence vineyards, the Coteaux Varois en Provence around Brignoles and the Bandol appellation on the western coast. From the Gulf of Saint-Tropez to central Var and the Provence Verte, Var estates offer a wide range of terroirs, sizes and prices.
Values vary widely. According to the official French scale published in August 2026 (2025 values), one hectare of AOP Côtes de Provence vineyard is worth €67,000 on average in the Var, and €100,000 in the coastal area. It reaches €125,000 in AOP Bandol, against €30,000 in Coteaux Varois en Provence. Buildings, winemaking facilities and location often weigh as much as the vines in the price of an estate.
